Personalised Diwali gifts to 3D print and sell
Family name plates, keepsake trays and office gift sets: what to print for Diwali, how to take orders on WhatsApp and how to handle corporate lists.
Diwali is the biggest gifting season of the year for many Indian buyers, and it is also a season of new homes, family visits and office gifts. That makes it a strong few weeks for anyone selling personalised 3D prints, whether you sell in India or to Indian families abroad.
The orders look different from Christmas. Gifts are often for a whole household, not one person, and offices order in bulk. Here is what to print and how to handle it.
What people buy for Diwali
Family name plates. Diwali is a popular time to move into a new home or refresh the old one. A door name plaque with the family name is a gift that gets used every day. Try the Lotus Bloom door name plaque or browse all signs and name plates.
Keepsake trays. A small tray with the family name and "Diwali 2026" holds sweets, diyas or keys, and it lasts beyond the festival. The Lotus Bloom keepsake tray is a good default; the home and keepsakes category has more shapes.
Gift tags. A reusable ribbon gift tag with the recipient's name turns a box of sweets into a personal gift. These sell well as an add-on.
Key holders. A wall key holder with the family name suits a housewarming during the festival season.
Office gifts. Desk accessories with an employee's name, such as a phone rest or a desk name plate, make a practical corporate Diwali gift.
The Diwali gifts ideas page has these picks with example text you can copy.
Get the name right: family names and spellings
Family names have more than one spelling. "Sharma" is easy; "Iyer", "Iyengar" and "Choudhary/Chaudhary/Chowdhury" are not. Never type a name from a voice note. Ask the buyer to type it, exactly as it should appear, including capitals.
For household gifts, confirm whether they want:
- the family name alone ("SHARMA"),
- a form like "The Sharmas" or "Sharma Family", or
- both names of a couple ("Rohan & Meera").
Then send a picture and wait for a clear "approved" before printing. Our post on avoiding misspelled names covers the full process.
Taking Diwali orders on WhatsApp
Most festival orders in India arrive on WhatsApp. Set up a quick reply with your order template:
- Design (send a picture of each option)
- Name, exactly as it should be printed
- Second line (for example "Diwali 2026" or "Shubh Deepavali")
- Colours
- Delivery address and the date it must arrive
When the design is ready, save the picture from the studio and send it in the same chat. The full flow is in custom orders on Instagram and WhatsApp.
Corporate Diwali orders
Offices, shops and small businesses often give every employee or client a small gift. These orders are large, have a hard deadline, and are usually paid by one person.
- Ask for one list. One name per line, in a single message or spreadsheet column. Do not collect names from twenty different people.
- Fix everything except the name. The design, colours and second line (for example the company name) should be the same for every piece.
- Quote a price per piece at a few quantities, plus a minimum order. See how to price personalised 3D prints.
- Agree a delivery date with slack. Corporate gifts are usually handed out on a set day. Deliver a few days before it.
With the Seller plan, paste the list into Bulk order and download a ZIP with one file per name, numbered in list order. Lists of up to sixty names go in one go. The same approach works for school orders; see school name tags in bulk.
The corporate events and offices and coworking idea pages have more office-friendly designs.
Colours for Diwali
Gold, saffron, deep red and maroon read as festive. A few practical notes:
- Gold silk on maroon or deep red looks rich, but check that the text is readable from arm's length.
- White on saffron has strong contrast and suits name plates.
- Avoid dark text on dark bases. It looks fine in the slicer and disappears in a dim hallway.
Two-colour prints look more premium than single colour for gifts. The 3MF download keeps the base and the text as separate parts, ready to assign two filaments in Bambu Studio.
Plan for the last week
Diwali orders bunch up in the final week, and couriers are busy too. Publish a last order date for delivery and stick to it. After that date, offer local pickup only, or a "printed after Diwali" option for buyers who want a keepsake rather than a gift on the day.
Beyond Diwali
The same designs carry through the rest of the festival season. Many of the buyers who order a name plate for Diwali come back for Raksha Bandhan gifts, housewarming gifts and weddings. Keep a note of every Diwali buyer so you can message them before the next occasion.
Common questions
Can the name be in Hindi? Some designs, including the desk name plate, wall key holder and slim bag tag, offer a Devanagari font under All options. Joined letters and vowel signs can render differently from handwriting, so check the picture closely and get the buyer's approval before printing.
Which Diwali gift is best for a first-time seller? A family door name plaque. It has one name, a clear use and a higher price than a keychain.
How early should I take corporate Diwali orders? Start asking regular office clients a month before the festival. Large orders need time to collect names, approve one sample and print.
